About the Course

Jointly accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the Chartered Institute of Management (CMI), the SCQF Level 7 Management Modern Apprenticeship is a work-based qualification designed to meet business needs and develop managerial talent. It aims to bring in new talent or upskill existing staff, preparing them for management roles to boost performance and productivity. Key components include:

  • Building Relationships and Communication
  • Project Management
  • Finance
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making

Candidates registered for the SCQF Level 7 Management will also benefit from 12 months of free membership with CMI. This membership provides access to a wealth of resources, including industry insights, professional development tools, and networking opportunities, further enhancing the learning experience.

Entry Requirements

No set requirements, however, the role must be relevant to the qualification being undertaken.

Method Of Study

Work-based learning.

Duration

The recommended duration for this framework is 18 – 24 months. However, any Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis when planning the duration for individuals.

Assessment Methods

Assessment methods may include gathering product evidence, personal reflective statements, workplace observation, oral/written questions, witness testimony and/or professional discussion.

Start Date

This is a roll-on, roll-off programme therefore there is no fixed start date.

Locations

Remote and work-based.

The Management apprenticeship primarily focuses on developing competencies essential for effective leadership. In addition to the core competence-based qualification, we strongly encourage candidates to participate in supplementary training outlined in the programme structure. This approach enriches the learning experience, providing apprentices with a well-rounded skill set and a comprehensive understanding of contemporary management practices and behaviours. Core Skills

There are 5 core skills for the framework; however, some will be naturally embedded in the award. Two units are not naturally covered and, therefore, will need to be undertaken as part of the apprenticeship framework if not already achieved. This can be seen in the Core Skill Profile provided by SQA. 

  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT) SCQF L5
  • Numeracy SCQF L5

Enhancements

  • One core skill at a higher than required level, i.e. SCQF L6

Or

  • One unit from an SVQ at SCQF level 6 or above relevant to the apprentice job role.

Or

  • One additional unit from the Management SVQ at SCQF L7
