About the Course
The Modern Apprenticeship in Digital Applications provides a comprehensive foundation while offering opportunities for specialisation in a range of skills such as structured data processing or multimedia applications.
Upon completion, candidates will possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues using diverse application software packages relevant to their business environment.
In addition to technical proficiency, the Digital Applications Modern Apprentice is required to demonstrate a sound understanding and practical skills aligned with the industry context in which they operate.
Consequently, more than 10% of the qualification encompasses sector-specific units tailored to the relevant industry sector, ensuring apprentices are well-versed in the specific challenges and requirements of their chosen field.

To cover Office applications, we fully encourage candidates to undertake Microsoft Office Specialist as part of the added value training we provide. No set requirements, however, the role must be relevant to the qualification being undertaken.
Method Of Study
Blended and work-based learning.
Duration
The recommended duration for this framework is 12 – 18 months. However, consideration of any Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) will be taken into account for planning the duration for individuals on a case-by-case basis; therefore, the award may be completed in the optimum timescale.
Assessment Methods
Assessment methods may include gathering product evidence, personal reflective statements, workplace observation, witness testimony and/or professional discussion.
Start Date
This is a roll-on, roll-off programme therefore there is no fixed start date.

Core Skills
There are 5 core skills for the framework, however some of these will be naturally embedded in the award. There are two units which are not naturally covered, therefore will need to be undertaken as part of the apprenticeship framework if not already achieved. This can be seen on a Core Skill Profile provided by SQA.

Office Applications
- Either PC Passport covering Word Processing, Spreadsheets & Presentations

- ITQ units in the same topics.
Industry Specific Unit(s)
- Ten credit points at either SCQF Level 5 or SCQF Level 6 are derived from industry-specific units directly related to the employer. These units are selected based on their relevance to the candidate’s job role, adding a valuable layer of business or industry context to the digital applications utilised in their work.
Added Value Training
We offer optional added-value training from a range of commercial vendors, such as Microsoft, to complement apprenticeships. These certifications serve as a valuable enhancement, allowing apprentices to tailor their learning experience based on individual needs and preferences.
